Debbie & Sarah-Kintyre Way 20-25 August 2011

For those new to the Charitytrek experience, Ian & Alice arrange pick ups from a central point in Glasgow to the start of the walk and return walkers back to Glasgow at the end of the walk. The mini bus drops the walking group off at the start of each days' walk and returns them to the B&B/hotel at the end of each day's walking.

We were extremely lucky with the weather, had wonderful walking companions and a great support team (Ian,debbie&sarah Doug, Susan, Steve & his dog, Skye).

The Kintyre Way is a relatively new walk (2006) and has fantastic views across to Arran, Gigha, Islay + Jura.

The 89 mile route takes in gentle forestry paths, rolling hills, farmland and a particularly beautiful (but tiring!) stretch along a shingle beach. Even the road walking section does not detract from the overall beauty of this walk.

The final day is an exhilarating walk across the rugged and isolated headland between Macrihanish and Dunaverty, which includes some steep sections. This was our favourite day and given the option, we would have very happily continued walking after we reached the end!

This is the 3rd trip that we have taken with Charitytrek, having previously been on The Great Glen (August 08) and West Highland Way (May 10). We have thoroughly enjoyed all our walks and look forward to joining the team again for another walking holiday in the future!
