charitytrek comprises of a team of experts in the field of fully supported walks/treks and special events.

 

Directors

           
Ian Glassey   Alice Watson  

Ian Glassey

Ian set up charitytrek over 18 years ago and is responsible for marketing and event managing our UK and overseas itineraries. Ian has been actively involved in fundraising for the past 30 years and also runs Ian A Glassey Fundraising and Event Management Consultants.

 

Alice Watson

Alice became a director of charitytrek in 2005 and is responsible for the day to day administration and bookings as well as being event manager on many of the treks. Alice has been involved in fundraising for the past 14 years and is a partner in Ian A Glassey Fundraising and Event Management Consultants.

 

Guides

Richard Baird

Richard, our senior guide is a qualified mountain leader and policeman who has worked with us since the early 90s and brings a wealth of knowledge to all our Scottish walks.

 

Tim Francis

A passionate biker and hill-walker, Tim is a former business development manager who spent 4 years working in South America before returning to the Highlands to become a mountain biking and walking guide. He is now much happier, and is also one of the most respected guides in Scotland.

 

Richard Strivens

Richard originally trained as a countryside ranger in the early 1980s. Since then he as worked in environmental education, conservation management, commercial arboriculture and forestry. Since 1994 he has worked as a freelance outdoor and environmental education instructor, working in both the public and private sectors, with adult groups and with young people.

 

Gillian Culshaw

Gillian Culshaw is a fully qualified Mountain Leader based in Fort William and is a keen skier and climber. She regularly climbs Ben Nevis and has been instructing in the outdoors for the past 10 years.

Martin McGuigan

Mountain Leader and Rock Climbing Leader Martin has more than 20 years experience in outdoor activities and mountaineering. He has climbed in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, The Alps, North America & New Zealand

 

Bruno Gomes

Our guide in Madeira – Bruno has extensive knowledge of this beautiful and unspoilt island.

 

Jose Carrion

Jose has an amazing reputation as a guide who will make your trip to Peru totally unforgettable.

 

Max Vilcas

Max is an experienced mountain guide who leads many of our groups on the Inca Trail and who comes from Ollantaytambo. Max has a wealth of knowledge on Inca history as well as the wildlife and plant life on the trail.

Gary Lee

charitytrek’s tour leader and guide in China.

   

Fergus Andrew

Fergus is one of the newest members to join the Charitytrek team as a guide. He previously worked as a qualified rope access technician and tree surgeon and is now a fully qualified mountain leader based near Stirling. In his spare time he enjoys snowboarding and sea kayaking.

Bob Ferguson

Bob hails from the Western Isles and is a long standing member of the support team. He is one of the welcoming faces that greets walkers at the end of a long day.

 

Graham Kelly

Graham is one of our Ben Nevis Challenge event managers coordinating all transport logistics for participants and luggage as well as providing backup and support.

 

Jeanette Kelly

Jeanette is one of our Ben Nevis Challenge event managers providing backup and support. Jeanette is also a fully qualified nurse.

 

Susan Inglis

Susan is another long standing member of the support team acting as driver on many events and also event manager/driver on certain itineraries.

Garry Duncan

Garry resides in Edinburgh, and is the latest addition to the charitytrek support team, and a valued team member on our Ben Nevis Challenges.
