Country - Scotland

Kintyre is on the west coast of Scotland between the islands of Arran and Islay only a few miles from the north east tip of Ireland.

The Kintyre Way is a new 89 mile long distance walking route, opened in Summer 2006, running the full length of the beautiful Kintyre peninsula on the West coast of Scotland and stretching from Tarbert at the north end of the peninsula, to Southend in the south.

The route takes us from the harbour to the ruin of Tarbert
Castle, a once powerful stronghold dating back to the 13th century; set in a commanding position above the town it has a clear view of the all-important seaways and then onwards to Claonaig, Clachan, Tayinloan, Carradale, Campbeltown, Machrihanish ending on the crescent beach of Dunaverty Bay below the historic site of Dunaverty Fort.

Along the way you will find a variety of wildlife including
several types of deer, red squirrels, grouse, seals, otters and basking sharks are seasonal visitorspoint.
